This highly interactive workshop provides participants the opportunity to learn and apply practical proactive skills and techniques that build respect and engagement with students. Research shows this positive classroom environment enables teachers to more readily keep students on task, redirect off-task behavior, and address consistent non-compliant behavior without loss of instructional time (1 Day).
Keeping It in the Classroom: Encouraging and Engaging Students to Create a Successful Classroom Environment
© Managing a diverse classroom where all students remain engaged and on-task is often a challenge for even the most experienced educator. Despite a teacher's best efforts, his/her interventions are not always successful, and disruptive students are removed from class or suspended from school. This highly interactive workshop explores common scenarios which lead to classroom removal or suspension. Participants learn and practice new, practical, and easy to implement techniques that provide incentives and opportunities for students to take increased personal responsibility for assisting their teacher in creating a positive learning climate (1 Day).
Improving Professional Power in the Classroom: Individual Coaching Mentoring

Working with individual teachers, a PCM Associate with extensive classroom experience, provides immediate "off the record" feedback and tips to address the classroom management challenges of specific classes. Teachers are coached on skills and strategies to keep students on-task and immediately redirect off-task behavior. They are also supported as they apply proven skills to address consistently inappropriate behavior. Additionally, teachers learn to work proactively and collaboratively with challenging students so minor classroom conflicts among students, and between students and teachers, can be reduced (Number of days based on school need).
Guidance Strategies for Meeting the Needs of At-Risk Students

Designed for guidance staff and/or teaching staff, this highly interactive workshop address how to successfully deal with challenging and manipulative behavior, academic failure, suicide, substance abuse, bullying, chronic absentism, and poor classroom behavior. A multimedia approach is used to deliver instruction, and objectives are met through discussion and individual and group activities. Guidance staff develop an Action Plan they can immediately implement in their school (1 Day).
Coaching/Mentoring of Guidance Staff in Writing Action Plans for At-Risk Students

Working with guidance personnel, Child Study Teams, and/or Pupil Personnel Teams (PPT's), a PCM associate with experience as a guidance counselor and Assistant Principal Pupil Personnel Services, assists participants in deigning and implementing customized Action Plans for students experiencing academic failure in the classroom and/or social/emotional challenges in their lives (Number of days/hours based on school need).
Making Advisories Matter

Research shows school tone improves, student success increases, and discipline incidents decline in schools with effective advisory programs. This workshop provides a hands-on guide to creating an advisory program that meets these objectives by maximizing the skills and interests of all advisory teachers. The workshop is designed for schools planning on beginning an advisory program, or those schools wanting to improve an existing advisory program (1-5 Days).
Case Conferencing: Designing Interventions to Maximize Student Success

Every school seeks a proactive method of supporting students, reducing discipline incidents, and increasing passing and graduation rates. Research shows one of the more effective methodologies to achieve these goals is to establish an ongoing system of Case Conferencing. This workshop assists educators in small schools, large schools divided into Small Learning Communities or houses, and/or on Special Education and IEP teams to use Case Conferencing to monitor and improve students' progress. Participants learn how to review student performance and design interventions to support students and prevent failure. This workshop is designed for schools planning on beginning Case Conferencing, or those schools wanting to improve existing Case Conferencing strategies and techniques (1 Day).

This interactive and experiential workshop provides educators an opportunity to explore what it means to create and sustain an optimal learning environment by building mutual trust and respect with even their most challenging students. Participants develop an increased awareness of the the barriers to creating an optimal learning environment, and learn and apply the best practices of teachers who successfully incorporated this mind-set into their educational philosophy (1 Day).
Strategies for Teachers of English Language Learners and Special Education Students in General Education Classes

Many teachers confident about teaching their subjects to general education students do not feel adequately prepared to meet the demanding needs of Special Education students, and/or those with a limited understanding of English. In this workshop, teachers learn strategies to successfully teach these youngsters in their general education classes while continuing to provide excellent content area instruction to all students. Paraprofessionals who support English Language Learners and Special Education students in general education classes will also gain new insights as they dialogue with teachers about the challenges they face together (1 Day).
Leadership Skills for the 21st Century Teacher

Eighty per cent (80%) of what students learn in schools today is different from what students were taught just twenty years ago. Partnership for 21st Century Skills identified important skills for students in the 21st Century that include: Leadership, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Global Awareness, and Life and Career Skills. This highly interactive workshop uses videos, current research, and hands-on activities to share strategies and methodologies to assist teachers in infusing these skills into daily content instruction (1 Day).
Building a High Performing Conflict Resolution Program

This highly interactive and customized training provides participants the opportunity to learn and practice the skills and techniques necessary to integrate conflict resolution skills into their school culture. After learning how to conduct a successful mediation, participants work collaboratively to create an Action Plan to turnkey these skills to students, and are supported as the set up a student-centered Peer Mediation Center (25 Coaching/Mentoring Hours).
Moving Beyond the Melting Pot: Strategies for Building Cultural Competency

The world in which we live is becoming increasingly smaller as the global community becomes more interdependent. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 20% of the population of the United States speaks a language other than English at home. Educators and adults who work with culturally diverse populations benefit from learning the requisite skills (e.g. language sensitivity, effective group management, etc.) necessary to meet the needs of our diverse populations. In this experiential workshop, participants learn and practice hands-on techniques that address critical diversity issues including racism, sexism and intra-group tensions. Participants will then work collaboratively to develop Action Plans which promote an environment where all are valued and respected (1 Day).

Working with today's young people in the classroom, in advisories, and/or in after-school programs, though rewarding, can often prove to be challenging to even the most seasoned professional. This interactive and experiential workshop addresses this challenge by assisting teachers in incorporating psychologist Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence's into their daily lesson planning. Participants work collaboratively to learn and practice activities which engage students by infusing experiential activities including creative writing, drama, music, and creative play into their lessons (1Day).

Skills and Strategies for Managing Conflict

Conflict is a natural part of life. This highly interactive workshop provides participants with the tools needed to manage day to day conflicts. Through engaging activities and thought provoking discussions and sharing, participants develop strategies to transform conflicts into opportunities for positive change and improved relationships. Participants examine their thoughts and perceptions surrounding conflict and learn proactive approaches to prevent conflicts from occurring when possible, and strategies and skills to successfully resolve conflict when they arise. This workshop can also be adapted for students and/or parents (1 Day).

Effective communication skills lead to improved relationships, successful careers, and a confident self image. To be a good communicator one must understand what the message is, the make up of the audience receiving the message, and how the message will be perceived on the receiving end. During this highly interactive workshop, participants learn and proactive proven techniques to assist them in expressing themselves clearly and confidently. They also learn how to constructively give and receive feedback (1 Day).
